DebateHero

DebateHero vs Debate Arena

DebateHero and Debate Arena both let you practice arguing against AI, but they teach different things. Debate Arena, from Krue Software, is a phone app built around learning rhetorical devices and fallacies. DebateHero is a web game where you debate AI versions of historical figures, or other players, and a judge scores each exchange.

When Debate Arena is the better pick

If you want to learn the names of fallacies and get quicker at spotting them, on your phone, Debate Arena is built for that. It teaches rhetorical devices with levels and quizzes. DebateHero doesn’t have fallacy lessons.

When DebateHero is the better pick

If you want to argue a full position against someone who disagrees with you and see where each exchange was won or lost, that is what DebateHero does. You pick who you’re arguing with, each figure argues from their own positions, and the judge scores what your argument does rather than how it sounds. It also has live debates against other people, in timed formats based on Public Forum.

Using both

They don’t really overlap. Learning what a straw man is and then catching one in a live argument are two separate skills, and some people will want both. More on how practice works here in the AI debate practice guide.
